With 6 happy kids, life can be really fun around here! This blog is dedicated to the joys and sometimes chaos of having a large family. Okay, so it's always chaos around here, but fortunately, it's almost always fun, too!

One of my children is a very early riser. He wakes up soon after I do - as early as 5 am or so.

It's nice, when the rest of the family sleeps, and he and I spend some quality time together.Yesterday morning I showed him how to microwave a potato - then he made potatoes for breakfast for everyone after they woke up.

Okay, so it's not a traditional American breakfast, but it surely beats sugar-laden breakfast cereal!

We like to do something special in the morning - we drink herbal tea together, or I help him color a page in his coloring book. It doesn't have to be anything big or difficult, but something that gives him a little extra time with me. It means a lot to both of us.

When you have a lot of kids, I think it's important to find special moments wherever you can.

Oh -- here's another link for finding a Volunteer Minister to help by giving you Assists.

While waiting to see the dentist, we've had lots of opportunities to get assists! My daughter is better than I am - her tooth stopped hurting, fortunately.

If you need an assist, you can always find a Volunteer Minister to help you with assists. They can deliver assists in the hospital, as well.

One of my children had a toothache last week, and we made an appointment for her with the dentist. It must be some sort of sympathic mother-thing, because since then, I have had a toothache flare up. So, now we're BOTH going to the dentist!

Some of the kids need to get braces -- it seems like there are so many options, and they're all so expensive! What's a mother with a bunch of kids to do when they need braces?

I recall my brother actually typing a string to a loose tooth to the handle of a door and slamming the door shut to pull the tooth out. It might have worked, too, if he hadn't tied it to the wrong tooth...

Boy, that's an old memory! I think I was 3 years old when this happened.

Fortunately, we do have dentists and won't have to resort to strings and doorknobs.
