If your child is having difficulty learning how to read, there are places you can for help.

My older kids did tutor training, and my younger kids received tutoring, at the World Literacy Crusade office in our area. They have a number of centers worldwide, and have done incredible work.

There is also the H.E.L.P. - Hollywood Education and Literacy Project which also has centers around the world.

Another suggestion for bedtime is one of these book treasuries - books that contain many short stories inside them. For Christmas, we gave one to my 10 year old daughter - "Five Minute Bedtime Stories" just for her to read to her younger siblings. She loves the book, and loves having that job! It makes her feel really special to help in this way.

The stories really are just 5 - 10 minutes long, and so they aren't too much to read at bedtime, but you can read several of them if the kids have trouble getting sleepy.
