With 6 happy kids, life can be really fun around here! This blog is dedicated to the joys and sometimes chaos of having a large family. Okay, so it's always chaos around here, but fortunately, it's almost always fun, too!

For organizing toothbrushes, and each child's personal care items, our kids each have their own bucket. They put their shampoo, hair brushes, soap, etc. in it. Many of these items are shared, but as the kids get older they find they need their own things more and more.

Buckets are nice because they are easily washed, easy to carry, don't take up too much room and can be stored in a closet, on a dresser, or on a shelf, depending on the situation.

These are my tips for running a large household - for tips on handling life in general, check out Tips for Success.

I haven't put up any tips for handling lots of kids lately. So here's one today:

When putting the kids to bed, I have found that pairing up an older child with a younger child works really well. The older child helps the younger one with getting changed, tooth brushing, etc., and they like to read to their younger siblings. This is a nice routine and helps get them all calm and settled.

Then the older kids have earned being able to stay up a little later, but they are also more relaxed themselves.

Moms with a lot of kids must remember to share the responsibilities!
